How It Works

unhide® collects real-world data, including symptoms, surveys and data collected by wearable devices.

We work to virtually connect patients with clinical trials and empower them to observe their own health patterns, track their symptoms, and share reports with their doctors.

Are you eligible?

Participation is open to anyone, regardless of health status or diagnoses. To be able to participate, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be over the age of 2 years old:
    • Parents and guardians can enroll their young children (ages 2-6) and participate on their behalf; school age children (ages 7–12) can complete surveys and track symptoms side-by-side with their parents/guardians; teens (ages 13+) can enroll themselves with parental consent.
  • Currently live in the United States
  • Have internet access and a connected device, like a smartphone or computer
  • Be fluent in English (stay tuned for updates about a Spanish language version)

After participants complete their informed consent and health history, highlights of unhide® include:

  • Symptom logging
  • Connect to wearable devices, like smart watches
  • Share printable reports with medical providers
  • Pacing notifications
  • And more

Designed with & for Patients

Even simple efforts like completing surveys can trigger symptoms for many people with chronic health conditions, so each survey on unhide® includes a rating for estimated effort required.

Our goal is to encourage you to pace yourself. Autosave is enabled so participants can take breaks and come back to a survey without losing your place or having to start over.

The platform is available in light mode or dark mode, depending on your device and browser settings.

The surveys on unhide® are designed to make participating in research and tracking your own symptoms and experiences more accessible, with a focus on minimizing barriers for individuals who are often excluded from clinical research due to the burden of participation.

Pacing Notifications

Post-exertional malaise (PEM) is a common symptom of chronic conditions like ME/CFS and Long COVID, among others.

PEM is a delayed, disproportional worsening of symptoms after a high-exertion event. Exertion could be physical (like exercise), emotional, cognitive, orthostatic, or environmental.

A self-management practice recommended to many for avoiding PEM is pacing: trying to balance activity with rest.

If you connect a wearable device, like a smartwatch or activity tracker, you can enable “pacing notifications” to help monitor activity levels and better manage energy.

Symptom Log & Diary

Preparing for doctor’s appointments can be overwhelming, especially when you are managing multiple diagnoses and medications.

Through unhide®, you choose which symptoms they want to log, using terms that best represent your individual experiences. Logging symptoms takes just minutes each day and results in easily viewable reports and patterns.

You can also generate PDF reports to bring to your next appointment or share with your doctor.

Connect To Wearables & Other Tools

You can connect devices such as a smartwatch or a smart ring to integrate additional lifestyle data. This can help simplify data collection and fill in gaps for events or symptoms that may not have been logged.

Connect To Research

Our patient community’s powerful, real-world data will be used to look for better diagnostics, treatments, and cures for ME/CFS, Long Covid, and other brain inflammation related chronic diseases. Participants can also opt into additional clinical trials or studies as they become available.
